Caitlyn and Nick Inniswoods Metro Gardens
We must of chatted about everything under the sun during our session together, from our businesses adventures to our love for country concerts ( how we are looking forward to having them back in our lives...come on COVID)! It's amazing when you have such a great connection with your clients!
Speaking of great connection, Caitlyn and Nick have a love story that Hallmark would love! They met at an airport, Caitlyn was president of the aviation crew and gave Nick her number incase he had questions after his visit. They have been inseparable ever since...being in high school and an hour away from each other did not stop them from spending all of their free time together. Caitlyn and Nick attended every dance ( both schools) , let's just say they have had a lot of practice and have perfected THE DIP!
And an amazing twist to this love story is Nick had Caitlyn's Dad join in on the proposal planning, even down to helping Nick pick out the engagement ring! As a family they went to the Christmas lights show in Akron and he got down on his knee and proposed!!! EEEEKKKK
I am beyond excited for them and this continued love adventure!!!
Our session started out at the Inniswoods Metro Gardens (Westerville, Ohio) during my favorite hour THE-GOLDEN-HOUR! These two nailed every shot like pros! It was such a blast hanging out with them and I can't wait to capture their wedding day in May!!!
When Brittney contacted me about doing a personal training session, to say I was a little nervous was an understatement. This is something that was totally out of my comfort zone, however the ideas I had and an opportunity to test my lighting skills overrode that the moment I spoke with her!
I am so happy she entrusted me to do this session with her! She was so much fun to work with and I can see why so many love having her guide them through online training and meal programs! Brittney is not only a blast to hang out with but she really cares about what she does if you're searching for an online coach, she is definitely your girl!
We started her session over at the most AMAZING gym Colussus Barbell in Columbus, Ohio. This gym is gorgeous! They have everything from free weights to leather punching bags! Brittney did a run through session with HIIT exercises, ropes and some free weights there.
*side note you can pick up Alyssa's Healthy Donuts (which are BOMB.COM) at Colussus too! *
Then we HIIT (pun intended) the Scioto Mile and Brittney showed off her skills with some bodyweight exercises and booty bands! She really makes sure she is keeping things light and fun for her clients while at the same time putting in the work!

Then we went to the famous butterfly mural in Uptown Westerville! There were a lot of people sitting around the tables but that did not throw this girl off at all. She went right into posing and smiling like there was no one staring at her! Seriously I would of been a hot mess express with that many people!!!

No matter whether you are in a high-school, a soon-to-be-bride or a mom everyone worries about clear skin. Over this past year I have really struggled with acne, I thought since I was no longer a teenager or preggers this problem was far behind me. Clearly I was wrong, pun intended. When my face started breaking out I was just like the majority of you, I went straight to Pinterest trying to figure out the best products to purchase or a home remedy (DIY). I have come to the conclusion that what works best for one person may not work the best for everyone because we all have different skin types (oily, dry), hormones, stress levels and diet.
Yes, diet! Believe it or not but this is a huge factor. Sugar and overly processed foods will not only effect your bacteria balance in your gut, your weight, hormones but it will effect your skin (your largest organ). I encourage a balanced diet of whole-foods, fruits and veggies. This will help elevate some of your symptoms. That doesn't mean you can never enjoy a brownie, cupcake, chips, etc it's all about moderation!
Stress stress stress...just saying it tenses me up a bit....
Stress is completely unavoidable! Whether you're having a difficult time with school, relationships, planning for your future, etc stress is everywhere. It is my biggest break-out culprit! In order to calm my nerves I use my stress away & lavender essential oils (young living), magnesium (powder/liquid forms) & B6 this has seriously been a game changer for me, yoga and meditation ( helps to clear the mind).
Managing stress can a lone help get rid of your acne, if this is the leading factor, as previous mentioned your skin type (oily or dry) plays a part in how your pores are. I experienced both oily and dry skin during my life. When I was pregnant my skin was very oily, I had to constantly wash my face. Now my skin is very dry where I am always having to moisturize. In both cases I have used Aztec Bentonite Clay face-mask and it has worked wonders. After first use your pores will shrink instantly! ( I am not sponsored by them) and I highly encourage you to try it for yourself, you will be amazed at how soft your face feels and how your pores look!
If you have any tips or tricks on how to keep your face looking healthy and clear of pesky acne post in the comments below!
So, it's YOUR SENIOR YEAR! There is so much you have accomplished and a lot of decisions to make...now is the perfect time to capture photographs to commemorate your life for the past 17/18 years!
Where to get started?
Whether you choose me as your photographer or not I highly suggest meeting them to see if you vibe well together. Your facial expressions are going to be the main focus during this process so if you are not comfortable it will shine through in all of your images. So grab some coffee and discuss your interests! It's best that your photographer gets to know you in order to tailor the session to fit and your personality!
Bringing out your personality
Whatever your hobbies are (sports, fishing, foodie, juggler, etc) we will incorporate them into your session. Or if you have family/cultural traditions you are also able to bring items to represent them too. The point of your session is to bring out everything that best describes you.
Being the center of attention for the day can be a little nerve wracking so put on some of your favorite tunes. You would be surprised how something so simple can make you feel at ease and look your best in all of your photos!
Bring a Friend
Always bring a parent with you but you are also able to include your friends. They may help you to feel comfortable and know what to say to really bring out those genuine smiles :)
Hair and Makeup
I suggest having a hair and makeup-artist because they will know the best make-ups to use when being photographed. Some make-up will make your skin appear shiny, especially if the photographer has to use a flash. (check out my preferred vendors page for hair and makeup artist I suggest)
If you are doing your own hair and makeup avoid makeups with SPF or a Mineral base, they will create shine. Apply your makeup slightly darker than you normally would but not too much that you are not recognizable. Mascara is a must! As far as eye shadow stay away from pastels, they make your eyes look washed out. Also, refrain from all eyeshadows that have sparkles in them because they will create spots when any light reflects off. Always practice your hair and makeup before hand.
So you did not get the tan you want or you have tan lines....just let me know and I will make sure to take care of that during editing! I am able to give you a nice little glow...but please NO SELF-TANNERS! They cause your skin to be orange and blotchy, trust me when I say it will make you not like the photos.
Make sure your clothes make it out of the dryer in a timely fashion lol, at least for this day! Wrinkles are very difficult to remove even in photoshop. So just make sure you take the time to remove them before hand. Select your favorite outfits that represent you. Highly recommend to not wear solid RED, if you are up against anything green your images will look more like X-MAS pics instead of Senior. Solid colors otherwise are more preferable than super busy patterns.
Make sure your undergarments are color appropriate so they do not show through. Example...white shirt or skirt you should wear nude bra or underwear. Guys make sure your boxers aren't going to bunch up underneath your clothing.
Your hands are going to be in pretty much every image, so tidy them up and make them look presentable.
I love glasses and if you would like to include them in your photos, just bring an extra pair without the lenses to avoid the sun's glare or the camera's flash. You can wear your regular glasses up until that time or have contact lenses in.
Talk with your photographer how many outfits you will be able to get to based on the time you have them booked for. If you have multiple hours booked, bring a rolling suitcase with your clothes/accessories.
"You're not YOU when you're HUNGY" ~Snickers Commercial
Also, pack snacks and drinks...like the snickers commercial says "You're not you when you're hungry". You don't want to be HANGRY

Last post was about Vendors and Venue tips and tricks for your Wedding. I want to continue and speak about one of the most important vendors for your wedding day...YOUR DJ! The reason why I say this is one of the most important vendors you have is because your wedding reception experience is the biggest part of your celebration. A GREAT DJ will be able to not only incorporate your selected song choices but also know the right time to play songs and keep your guest entertained and on the dance floor the whole night through. I can't tell you how many brides were upset their guests either sat the entire time, stayed at the bar and did not dance. You spend the money on a DJ make sure it's one that will make you and your guest happy.
Josh Staley Productions is my preferred DJ for ALL of my brides for this reason alone! Josh and his selected DJ's are absolutely amazing and keep your party going and on the dance floor the entire time! Check out reviews for them at www.joshstaleyproductions.com
No matter which DJ you select always check for reviews. Happy customers will always leave great reviews so rely on others perception of their experience of a vendor. Meet up with your DJ and see if their personality coincides with yours.
When you meet up with your selected choices let them know what kind of music you like. Any specific songs you would like played and any ones that are on your DO NOT PLAY list. If you are stuck on good ideas of songs for your entrance, first dance, etc ask them for suggestions!
Happy New Years Everyone!
When you first get engaged you probably are overwhelmed with all of the things on the TO-DO list. As a photographer I try to help with suggestions with vendors and venues. If you are like me ,you try to do as much research as possible to find the "PERFECT" vendor and venue. So, I figured I would give some tips and tricks that some brides and grooms could use to make sure they find the perfect fit.
Usually brides and grooms chose a venue first. So, they are able to pick the date to make sure their vendors are available. When selecting a venue you will want to see if it first meets your budget, number of possible guest. And if you are able to have outside vendors ( you may prefer another DJ or catering company than provided).
Also, check to see if there are limitations on where you are able to photograph. You would be surprised that some venues (none that I would suggest) would have restrictions on where you are able to take photographs. Especially if you are having a wedding at a country club with a golf-course. Some will not mention you aren't able to take photographs by the pond or bridge because their golfers have a higher priority than the bridal party!
Third step is usually BRIDAL GOWN SEARCH! When I was looking for bridal gowns, I had a vision of what I wanted. My husband and I were getting married at the beach so I wanted something light and airy. One of the salons I went to did not help choose dresses. So, my bridesmaids were put to the task of having to search dresses based on style and price, needless to say it did not go well and I ended up frustrated. Another salon helped me based on my criteria and budget, the 3rd dress was it! The bridal gown salon you choose can make such a huge difference, due diligence and look up reviews, ask me for suggestions or talk to your friends who have went dress shopping in the area. Columbus, Ohio has some great bridal gown salons to choose from but make sure you are getting the perfect fit :)
