Senior year is a BIG DEAL, packed with milestones, fast deadlines, and tons of excitement! One of the best things you can do to stay ahead of the curve? Book your senior in the spring of the end of your Junior year!

As a Columbus, Ohio senior photographer, I work with families all year round and one thing I have noticed: the sooner you book, the smoother the experience. Here’s a quick guide to help you know when and why to secure your spot.

When Should You Book?

The ideal time to book your senior session is during your junior year or early spring of the end of junior year. This gives us the best shot at locking in your favorite season, your ideal date, and enough time to plan outfits, locations, and prints.

Here’s a general timeline:

• Spring of Junior Year: Best time to book for summer or fall
• Summer Before Senior Year: Still good availability, especially for late summer sessions
• Early Fall: High demand—book at least 2-3 months in advance
• Late Fall/Winter: Book early if you want a specific date or style
• Spring of Senior Year: Last call for sessions, especially cap & gown!

Why Booking Early Matters

My calendar fills up pretty fast—especially for golden hour summer sessions and peak fall color. Booking early means you don’t have to worry about getting the perfect session date and time for you and your family!

Booking early means we have ton of time to plan the perfect wardrobe and outfit combination, to coordinate with the location

The best time to take your senior pictures depends on your style (I break that down in another blog), but the best time to book them is always earlier than you think.

Sessions are limited and seasonal availability changes quickly. By planning ahead, you get the date you want, the season you love, and the experience you deserve.
